There has been a fire outbreak at the headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
There were heavy smoke coming out of the seven-storey building on a street in Maitama, where some other top government offices are located.
The Punch reports that the street also has offices of the National Youth Service Corps, the Nigeria Incentives Risk-Based Sharing for Agricultural Lending and the Nigeria Export Promotion Commission among others.
The newspaper further reports that the Registrar-General of the CAC, Alhaji Garba Abubakar, who confirmed the incident added that there was no loss of document or lives during the fire outbreak.
Abubakar said that as soon as the fire outbreak was noticed, men of the Federal Fire Service were quickly mobilised to put it out.
“There was a minor fire incident at the CAC today (Wednesday) which was quickly extinguished by the men of the fire service.
“However, there was no loss of document or lives.”
Newswatch reported that just last week Wednesday, a fire broke out at the building which houses the office of the accountant-general of the federation (AGF).
Although the Minister of State for budget and planning, Clem Agba revealed that no record was destroyed in the fire that gutted the ‘treasury house’, despite earlier speculations that the fire was started to erase records of money spent to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
